| This workshop will be held in conjunction with the National Small Oil Painting Exhibit at the Wichita Center for the Arts. We will break down the landscape into: line, shape, value, temperature of color, intensity of color, and quality of mark (texture). It’s important to understand each aspect and look at the landscape in this order BEFORE diving in! We will start by creating value sketches which concentrate on the line, shape and value of the composition. We will then create color studies of the composition, concentrating on the temperature and intensity of color. We will spend the rest of the workshop working on paintings created in the studio. Students will work from their own photographs, studies and reference materials. Kim will offer demos and lots of individual attention at the easel. |
