SELECTION COMMITTEES
NATIONAL AND REGIONAL SHOWS

INTRODUCTION
Article IX of the By-Laws provides for having national and regional shows annually whereas jurying committee shall evaluate and select all entries under consideration for OPA’s National and Regional Exhibitions.
To provide a fair, impartial, and objective evaluation of submitted entries that provide all artists with an equal opportunity, operating guidelines should be followed. To assure that a bias toward a particular style does not occur, it is preferred that membership on the Selection Committees be rotated.
THEREFORE, it is hereby resolved by the Board of Directors of Oil Painters of America that the following be adopted and followed in all future juried OPA National and Regional Shows:
- Jurying Chairman
One member of the Board of Directors shall be appointed as Jurying Chairman. He shall have the responsibility of selecting individuals to serve on each of the jurying committees. In addition, he shall coordinate the jurying process.
- National Shows
Five individuals shall comprise the Jurying Committee. Each committee shall be comprised of Signature and Master Signature members, with a minimum of two Master Signature members. With the exception of the Jurying Chairman, no member of the Selection Committee shall serve for more than two consecutive calendar years without express authority of the full Board.
- Regional Shows
Three individuals shall comprise the Jurying Committee. Each committee shall be comprised of Signature and Master Signature members, with a minimum of one Master Signature member. With the exception of the Jurying Chairman, no member of the Selection Committee shall serve for more than two consecutive calendar years without express authority of the full Board.
- Acceptance by Selection Committee
Entries shall be ranked numerically by the jurors, whereas, the highest ranked entries shall be accepted into the show. The number of entries selected is based on the size of the hosting gallery and is determined by OPA and the gallery. No member of the Committee shall vote for his/her own entry.
